How do you perceive Homelander's relationship with Ryan?

Oftentimes Homelander acts like a child towards his own pre-teen son, basically throwing tantrums, being jealous and pouty, etc... It's almost like he is Ryan's best buddy and not a "single father of one" lol

The whole ""merging as one"" thing completely fucked up my perception of their relationship, because in the end i was hoping it wouldn't all come down to Homelander seeing Ryan as an extension of himself and treating him like absolute shit, yet deep down all of us knew the truth 🥲

Though he's smartened up lately and realized that he's been a huge jerk...

I perceive it as being 100% in line with the rest of his character. That is to say, I like it.

I like the fact that Homelander's stunted maturity bleeds into his parenting. It's like watching a child try to raise another child ; alarming and strange -- but there's an undeniable ( albeit very warped ) innocence to it.

It's no secret that Homelander tries to cram as much as he can into a single relationship at a time and I like that Ryan isn't exempt from this. Ryan is his son and his best buddy. It's fascinating to watch him walk this tightrope between wanting Ryan to see him as an indestructible pillar of strength while also demanding colossal amounts of emotional and mental support from him ( that of which another adult could only realistically provide to him )

I love the scene in season two where Homelander reveals the truth about his childhood to Ryan. The acting is superb - HL sneaking hesitant glances at Ryan like he's the child, fessing up to something shameful. Waiting for rejection.

TLDR ; I think parent-child enmeshment is a given for someone like Homelander. I have no notes. No complaints. I just want to see more.

Hiiii Bea! It's 6:13am rn when I'm writing this but when I showered earlier I suddenly thought "Omg baby Kimi headcanons" AND I JUST HAD TO SHARE THEM WITH YOU 🫴🏻 Here are my personal headcanons of Baby Kimi and any child of Scara in general 🥹

1. Kimi has puppet joints! I'm a firm believer that Scara had puppet joints at some point in time and I'm pretty sure in the lore it's canon as well! It's just that his joints faded over time. As for Kimi, she got her daddy's puppet joints at birth! They don't hurt, they just make her look more like the little doll she is 🫴🏻 Whether hers also fade away over time or not is up to you!

2. Kimi has a long life span. Since Scaramouche is immortal, Kimi picked up on his immortality as well. For this headcanon, I don't 100% headcanon her to be immortal, but perhaps just a really extended lifespan. But this doesn't make her indestructible; she may have a longer life than mortals (and her mother 🥲) but her endurance is as that as a human. She can live long, but with any wrong move, she might as well not..

I've already said this in an earlier mail, but I don't go into much detail about Kimi's biological existence because it's something so surreal that it borders on a miracle. I think we can put it that way, right? Her existence is a miracle!

Nevertheless, I love that she has human, puppet, and even a very small remnant of an archon features inside her. And yes, I agree. Scara once had puppet joints that disappeared over time. Though whether she has them or not, whether they've faded or not, depends on your creativity hahaha

Unfortunately, as you said, our little Kimi has a long life. Not immortal, just extended given her ancestry. As a mother, I hope she lives a long time! Especially because she and Scara have a long way to go together and fix their bond.

An abundant-life mindset

Relief from trauma doesn’t come by pursuing relief. It comes by pursuing an abundant life. Abundant living focuses on the uncreated, incorruptible, indestructible, eternal life found in God.

Pursuing an abundant life isn’t about claiming a promise of health or wealth. It is about finding purpose and meaning in the life God has given you. It is about discovering a life worth living in the one you already have, as beaten-up and bruised as it may appear.

This has been my main motivation in the past and why I keep going. I continue to make goals for myself and my life so I can keep looking forward to things to live for. And furthermore, God has a promise for us, a plan for our lives, I trust that what’s in His plan is perfect and I shouldn’t worry.

An abundant-life mindset recognizes that no relationship, hobby, drug, or drink will truly satisfy. Later in John, Jesus tells his disciples that only in him will their joy be complete (see John 16:22-24).

This is good to remind myself of because it I can’t find joy in Christ, I’ll find it no where else.

Possibilities are open to you, even now, while you are still suffering. Even now, relief is available to you while you are still struggling. Your future is too valuable, too powerful, and too important for you to miss out on it by running and numbing. Abundant life awaits.

Keeping this in mind, when just thinking about the future opportunities I have in this coming year. God has been so good to me and so there’s no reason why I should be numbing so intensely. I don’t want to be numb, I don’t want to be apathetic, I want to feel everything and know that through everything I have God by my side.

Jesús is the only way in which I can live life to the fullest! In terms of my life here on earth and later when I pass on. What we’re given is eternity with Him and no matter what happens here, that’s the goal.

This goes hand in hand with prayer and specifically praying in Jesus name. There’s a catch to this in the sense that God will only give and fulfill what is meant to glorify Him, not simply what we think benefits us. Anyways! Either way, our joy is found in Jesus🫶

(Imagine for 2 weeks notice)when bakugou comes back injured, it’s night with reader packing up her stuff about to head home when the infamous dynamight walks in clutching his side with a bruised cheek and bloodied lip. Only to see his secretary look at him in shock. (Of course she knew he wasn’t indestructible but it still surprised her🙄)

She drops all her belongings and rushed to the hero. Bakugou looks at her knowing she was supposed to be on a train or even at home at this hour, but it warmed his heart when she came over to him to help him walk to his office. Reader sets him down on the couch as she looks at his injuries willing to tend to them when a calloused hand grabs her own. “Why are you still here? Don’t you have a train to catch?” Reader looks at him as she forgot she was running late to the station to begin with. She sighs as she says “I have to make sure you’re okay first, sir”. The blond rolls his eyes at her being over etiquette. Reader speed walks to a first aid kit and rushes back to her boss.

She looks at her boss and then to his Side as if she’s to shy to say “I need you to take off your shirt” both the boss and his secretary get cheekily red as he lifts and removed his shirt to reveal not only the black and purple bruise on his ribs but his (SCULPTED BY GODS) pectorals. As reader get more red she put down a thin ice pack on the wound as he quietly shuddered. She then proceeded to move up to his strenuous looking face dusted with a light red blush as they both make eye contact with this oddly exciting moment. As reader turns around to get a cotton ball full of peroxide, Bakugou can’t help but stare at how perfect her back runs down to her hips, admiring her dips and curves, as he quickly looks away as she turns around and leans down into Bakugou’s embrace as she focuses on his lips and makes sure none of the peroxide get in his mouth. He can’t stop staring at how focused she is at this task, her brows furrowed, nibbling on her lip, as she apologizes each time he hisses from the sting.

I’M SO OBSESSED WITH THIS, ANON!

Like, as his secretary you’d think you’d get used to Dynamight walking in with all sorts of injuries, especially when you see articles of his fights before you even see him. But it never gets easier. Although you don’t freak out quite as much, it still pains you to see the man you’re so desperately in love with, in pain too.

So you specifically keep a first aid kit at your desk just to make sure that you have the supplies to patch him up, knowing that he’ll refuse any kind of medical assistance at the scene. (Unless he’s in such terrible shape that he has no choice— but imagine visiting him in hospital on one of those occasions🥺)

But one thing you can never get used to is the sight of Bakugou without a shirt. Trying your best to focus on patching him up and not the way his nipples pebble out, the defined muscles surprisingly soft as you dab at his wounds. Each scar that marks his perfect skin only make him more beautiful in your eyes as you sometimes allow yourself to trace one when you can feel your boss’ breathing begin to shallow as he leans his head back against his desk chair.

“You should really be more careful.” You murmur softly as you begin to put your medical kit away.

“Why?” He scoffs, “When I got you to help patch me up after.”

And those times when you’re not in the agency and you come in the first thing in the morning holding a coffee for him and you see him still battered from the night before you’re still trying to patch him up even though he’s trying to brush you off, “I’m fine, woman. Don’t worry about me—” when really he’s practically preening from your affection. (He’ll never admit that he deliberately stays in his ruined, bloody clothes just so you see him like this and take care of him).

It’s like a routine you both just fall into?🥺

We unfortunately did not get the Rex and Echo centric episode that I was hoping for, but I still really liked this episode. So obligatory "I miss Echo" bit aside for now, let's get into it!

Anyway, overall thoughts are that I really liked this episode! The spooky vibes were really fun and I was glad to see some more of the zillobeast!

Felt like a pretty even split of dialogue across the Batchers today, and we got some new characters as well. I think it was well balanced! Not the Echo and Rex episode I was hoping for, but still very enjoyable. 😄

BUT NEXT EPISODE IS A CROSSHAIR EPISODE AND I CAN'T WAIT!!! I MISS THAT GRUMPY TOOTHPICK SO MUCH!

Anyway, I'm gonna have to disappear for a few hours while I avoid Mando spoilers 😅, but I can't wait to see what everyone thinks of the episode later!

i honestly was a little worried that both the mc’s and soobin’s change was too sudden 😭 i still feel like i could’ve executed it better, maybe? or maybe i’m just overthinking things, idk. but seriously, that smut was genuinely one of the most insane one i’ve ever written?? i didn’t realize that i’d forever be cementing soobin to a life of nonhuman!aus after that— sorry soobin i simply do not make the rules.

ok. so! in the universe that WTBW is set in, Soobin’s species (that i am too lazy to go check the name of) are seen as absolute indestructible units by both other aliens/monsters and humans. Why is that? Because of their blood! it’s used as a weapon against other nonhumans because it’s toxic and deadly— thus, the reputation of the lilac blood gave the creatures the image of being insanely dangerous. 

as a matter of fact, there are operation sites that breed and harness blood from Soobin’s species because it’s such a sought after (and illegal. insanely illegal.) weapon! and that’s the reason why humans— more specifically, the mc and her crew— are so terrified of the Hexen species, (yes i did look up the name just now.) and more importantly, their blood— because it’s known to be used as a lethal weapon. 

Now, onto the main question; blood bonds, what the hell is up with that? lilac blood is lethal to every species but the one it came from— in other words, it doesn’t harm the hexen species. so, when they give each other / inject their blood into each other (i know, it sounds a little gross) it’s basically their way of bonding/mating— it represents them uniting and becoming one, and is a promise to remain together as long as they’re alive; yeah, they bond for life!

long story short, yes— however, they don’t affect him as much as they would a normal human, or another nonhuman that isn’t as strong as his species. would they penetrate his skin? yes, but it would be a surface wound at most; his species has evolved to be extremely strong because they carry lilac blood and are able to receive it, so their body should be strong enough to handle it, and also, they have like six other limbs to attend to— it takes quite a bit of mental and physical strength to be able to develop and strengthen everything properly, if that makes sense.

could the mc’s crew have taken him down? yeah, a headshot is a headshot and soobin would’ve been a goner askdlh,, but his threats were enough to bring them to their senses bc yk.. he has tentacles that can move at the blink of an eye and he would’ve most likely taken one of them down before getting killed. he’s not invincible, but you do have to put a little extra effort in harming/killing him.

here’s the fun part hehe— so lilac blood, when used on humans, doesn’t kill them. Instead, it acts as an aphrodisiac. originally, lilac blood was only used as a weapon against non-humans; in other words, before space exploration evolved into what it is in that universe. Because of that, the hexen species didn’t evolve to combat against humans— which means the deadly aspect is taken away from the whole injection of it all. on soobin’s planet, everyone is already strictly against interacting with humans— the hatred doesn’t run as intense as other planets however, which is why soobin is so indifferent when he encounters the mc without her pin— so really, none of them knew what would happen if you injected your blood into them. 

soobin simply thought it would work as usual; what he didn’t account for, however, was the fact that humans don’t die from it— which means that they’re able to sustain it, and now… soobin’s body and mind thinks he’s just bonded with another of his kind!

as previously mentioned, the hexen species bonds for life— meaning that, if soobin tried to kill the mc, his body would go haywire and immediately think that his mate— his other half— is dead. a life without your mate can be seriously detrimental to both one’s physical and mental health, so soobin wouldn’t have lasted long without the mc; he would’ve been immediately weakened, and the crew would’ve taken that chance to take him down— if they somehow chose to keep him alive, he quickly would’ve died after anyway. (that’s dark sorry.)

Ep 10 has the most expected unexpected development I’ve ever seen lmao… Now that all cards have been laid on the table (pun intended), I guess it’s clear what Chris is going to do next.

It doesn’t seem like Chris was planning to finish off Finn (indestructible card in pocket cliche btw) but he still shoots him, so I think it’s more of a “stay out of this!” than anything. It hurts though🥲 Cuz all the SS and dramas are literally “hehe funny onii-san Chris is here to rescue Finn and fool around with him”… Finn cares about Chris, even if he won’t admit it. So last week’s motivational speech was really Chris talking about himself huh.

“On a scale of 1 to Chris, how much of a show-stealer character are you?” Lmao. I can’t believe the legendary ep 11 is legit titled “CHRIS” as if the staff’s saying “we pretend to be a show about cards, but it’s actually about… Chris” 😂 I do love Chris though, so I don’t mind. As long as there’s gonna be a 2nd cour (fake it til you make it fellas).

Chris matter aside… I adore Arya, A LOT. Cool powers. Or maybe I’m just a sucker for middle-aged women. And I found Finn’s answer to Arya really endearing, I’d burst into laughter like she does too. So next ep we’ll see what Finn is gonna do about Chris, and hopefully the whole gang too? (please) I like to believe that Chris must have a plot armor, even though it’s gonna be somewhat boring, but the only other option I see is Michelle is more than the sweet little girl she acts out to be, and all the roads lead to heartbreak 🥲

That reminds me, before the show started they had a promotional seiyuu event in which each was asked to introduce their respective chara, but Massu (Chris’ VA) straight up refused to elaborate, simply said instead “he’s a good-looking guy” and later faked surprise “eh? Am I not the protagonist?” 😂 I thought he was being in-character (which isn’t at all unusual for him) but yknow what, I got it, got it.

Speaking of VA, apparently Tyler Redgrave’s VA is Tori-san, and yeah the character is also literally Tori-san, complete with a fedora lmao.

Let’s just see what’s gonna happen next week… and although I won’t be sleeping well until Friday… I want to finish posting the rest of the hehe funny materials before Monday…

Oh and also. Turns out a pissed-off, non-smiling, cold-blooded Chris isn’t a guy to mess with huh lmao (RIP Jasper).
